Beginning of the year, way back before all the sand and shit, I hired someone to run my bar. Now he's gone. It figures.

So I'm looking again.

Bar's underground. Called the Raven. Serves blood, so don't bother if that's a problem for you. Better if you've done something like this before, but not a dealbreaker. Staff's pretty good, just need to keep things running smoothly, night to night.

Five days in the fucking desert, starting to wear thin. Easier ways to get a tan, winter or not.

[There's a long pause, just the sound of the sand-scoured wind in the background.]

They say the City's split, yeah? Things better on the other side?

Wouldn't take much, I guess. Running water'd do.

[A few barely-audible mumbled curses, and the transmission clicks off.]

[ooc; since the time difference is mostly handwaved, figure this cropped up early on the 3rd day of Glass, midday 5th day of Sand. ♥ Obviously this will be distorted to anyone in the Glass City.]

I figured, no curse, everyone's gotta be sober from New Years by now, might as well ask.

I run a bar, underground. Needs a manager.

Experience'd be good. Bar serves blood, so no one who's got something against vampires. Staff's good, treat 'em well, don't be an asshole, shouldn't be any problems. Just need someone to deal with it, day to day.

[ooc; Frankie is basically lookin' for someone to take over The Raven, which he kind of accidentally inherited ages back; he only wants to be involved to make sure blood's being ethically sourced, otherwise he'll wash his hands of it. Would much rather have a player character get involved for this :3]

Been more than a month since my brother left. Didn't expect him to come back-- couldn't tell you why, sometimes people do-- but a month's pretty much when people give up hope around here. Seems that way, anyway. Took Eden a month to come back, I spent most of it trashed. Didn't get drunk this time. Broke everything instead... I haven't been down to the bar since. Don't know if anyone's bothered opening. Been thinking maybe I'll sell it.

I'm pissed off about Ed, though. Guess he's back where he needs to be... Doesn't make me feel any better, though.

Thing is, Ed can take care of himself. Better than I can, maybe. But I hate thinking--

what happens, when he can't, when shit goes wrong again, and there's no one to bail him out?

[VIDEO | Backdated to just after dawn]

[Frankie's sitting at the bar, a glass to one side of him, apparently staring at nothing. The Raven is deserted and fairly dark; cleared out and cleaned up for the day, but he hasn't left yet.

As he sits, not looking at the glass or at the camera, the picture seems to darken; a slow and melancholy flush of blue tones creeping into the shadows, almost imperceptible in the half-dark of the shuttered bar.

Abruptly, he slides the glass towards the device, letting the camera linger on the liquid for a moment before turning it off wordlessly.]

[ooc; seeing all manner of unpleasant things he did while dead. of course, other chars are welcome to see something while the water's on screen, but it won't be that ;) ]

Short on rent this month, with the bar closed so long. Got a plan, though.

[The feed flicks on when the communicator bounces a bit, tossed on a counter. It lands on top of a piece of paper; if you tilt your head, you might be able to make out a few lines...]

[A moment or three after the picture comes up there is, offscreen, a huge crash and commotion, and a lot of cursing. A bit of dust floats into frame, the camera lens focusing to sharpen up the darkened main room of the Raven.]

[TEXT, A FEW MINUTES LATER]

Raven's closed until further notice.

[ooc; per all this jazz, Frankie's closing the bar for a while. Squashed patrons are bad for business after all.]

[Accidental Video;]

[The feed turns on as he drops the device on a table, and just catches him walking out of the frame. After a moment he returns with a large mug-- coffee, because Frankie is about twelve distinct varieties of tired right now-- and sits to mull over it. This continues til the device decides to turn itself off.]

[ooc; let's pretend this was up a bit earlier in the morning, shall we? no duplicate Frankies please (if such thing exists, hah,) but otherwise run wild. <3 ]

So far this month's been stupid and annoying instead of dangerous and miserable.

So here's another problem with this shithole: nowhere to go on vacation. Anyone know, are there hotels or anything out by the beach maybe? Or empty houses or anything. Somewhere to get the fuck away and maybe have a couple days' quiet?
